Your thoughts, will PCGS grade this 1950 proof Franklin?
The stain on the back. Tried Jewel Luster, MS70, and Acetone. Other than the stain, a great coin with nary a hairline.
1. Will it grade?
2. Any other suggestions

I also think it will end up in a problem free holder.
Do you think the stain is the glue from the cello bags of that era? The things you tried will not touch glue.
I cannot opine on how many points will be deducted for the stain. The few proofs that I attempted from that era seemed to get hit a point or two, but the stains were quite a bit smaller in size. Yes of course there are hairlines. Very few 1950 proof halves survive hairline free. Appears to be an attractive proof struck from an early die state. Probably less than 10 die pair used; 1950 is a genuinely tough half dollar to find gem making it even tougher to find gem cameo and is the key date in heavy cameo. Get an opinion from NGC or PCGS and maybe a 4th party opinion from CAC if so inclined. Another option would be submitting to NCS for conservation prior to NGC certification. I know you'll say 'I know who the TPG's are' but don't underestimate how rare these are if in fact it is hairline free. I'll bet there are already hairlines in and around that glue stain.

Very nice Franklin.... I believe it will straight grade...seems strange the stain did not come off with what you tried... Might be worth sending for conservation...Maybe get it graded first, then look at the cost/value issue...Cheers, RickO

I agree with the idea than NCS can conserve it and NGC can grade it. They'll make that sucker shine and you'll avoid a downgrade.
