LDS Roosevelt with die cracks and chips

Aspie_RoccoAspie_Rocco Posts: 3,668 ✭✭✭✭✭

I picked up a few crazy looking Roosies with heavy die polish, cracks and chips (Doritos)
On the 56 There is a huge chip on his upper lip like a mustache and a large curved split on his head.
The 54 has a chip that looking a bit like an unruly booger on the nostril.

Where did you find these? Are you focusing on die chips or were these just interesting pieces you acquired? Cheers, RickO

Looks like remnants from a heavy clash.

    Here's an overlay:

Maybe FDR used a leaf to blow his nose?

From eBay, macvanderstein. They ran last week. I got two 54 that were odd and the 56 shown is wild. It’s hard to take pics that highlight all the flaws. > @BuffaloIronTail said:

This would be awesome if it’s a clash. I will microscope it and see if I can get better pics.

Roosies are relatively common with clashmarks, being small and thin. But there is likely more going on here than a clash alone...just not sure what. The curve on the forehead is puzzling.

Here is a 1965 SMS with a HEAVY clash:
