It is highly unlikely that you have found a new variety or discovery.

Please try to look on a few websites before you post your "Is it a .... " question.

http://www.lincolncentresource.com/ which also has a forum that exclusively discusses Lincoln cent varieties

and here:

http://varietyvista.com/CONECA Master Listings.htm

both of which have many photos and attribution educational materials.

You've been warned >:)

And, remember, if the doubling. etc. on your coin doesn't exactly match the photos of the variety you think it is, it isn't that variety.

Good input.... I would suggest such a list of resources be permanently linked at the top of the page, with large letters that say something like 'VARIETY/ERROR RESOURCES FOR ATTRIBUTION'...It could certainly help our new members - all of which seem to have a legitimate interest in coins, but have yet to acquire the knowledge base or even realize there are such resources. Cheers, RickO

Did someone hand out 500,00 copies of "Penny Whimsy" that I didn't know about?

Yes, whimsical posts, lol. I thought maybe this would be a positive way to deal with these threads that seem disingenuous attempts to provoke, and to provide good resources to those who legitimately want to learn about Lincoln cent varieties. I may be a little more sensitive than others since I have passionately collected Lincoln varieties for well over 20 years.

For the older board members ... my father was a coin collector as a kid, and he had a round plastic tube with Lincolns in it that had some variety or error. He told me they called them "freaks." :D

Or at least buy the book before asking:
