I’ve wanted one of these slabs just because. And this is a nice wheat cent for what it is. Just wanted to share...

Nice looking coin. Were those slabs a transitional type dating from 1989 when the "rattlers" were discontinued?

I do not have one of those slabs...Since there are no shows or shops here, I will have to peruse the internet....Of course it will also need to have a coin I want ;) Cheers, RickO

This was a tough to find slab with a well struck walker in 65.

Try to find a 65 walker in the secure plus dupont slab!

What happened to the Dupont holograms; were they easier to counterfeit than initially thought?

Oh no, they're the last one before the current slabs. They were only used for a year and a half though...

Not really sure to be honest, I just know they were short lived. Cool looking hologram in my opinion, although my favorite color being green I'm a little biased. :D

WHY??? If they did the job they were made to do, they must have failed for some (unknown to me) reason.

Perhaps a good example of why too many holder changes are not a good thing.

They didn't get along with other stickers placed on top of them.

The latest hologram sticker is permanently inside the holder. Newer security is included, with a "specially engineered additive inside the plastic" that can be detected with a proprietary scanning tool.

    Thanks Lance!

If I recall correctly, the Dupont hologram sticker is scored at the corners and would tear into bits frighteningly easily if another sticker were placed on top of it, or even if no sticker were placed on top of it.

Yep - finding an intact hologram is hard - congrats!

Interesting, I wasn't aware that was the reasoning behind their discontinuance. My low grade '95-O dime is in that generation slab.

I thought I had read somewhere that the hologram is fragile. Mine is perfect so that's definitely a plus!
