Awfully straight for a random scratch.

I thought it was a cull at first glance and a deep staple scratch, except ....

    Looks extruded

I think it's a scratch. If raised, it would have been the first thing to wear down and wouldn't be as prominent. A deep scratch with a knife will push metal upwards.

    Scratch, for reasons stated above,

Maybe not from a staple - how about a razor/knife or electric envelope opener?

I happen to be the leading authority on coin scratches :) (it seems all my coins exhibit scratches) And yours well, is one of the earliest specimens I have had the opportunity to examine. But I'am at a loss as to how this one happened, I would send it off to PCGS straight away.

That Lincoln sure looks like it suffered a double clip at two angles or the rim clip was hanging on and broke off shortly after exiting the press. IMO. Peace Roy
