Just got this little piece today. Kinda cool. :)
Does anybody know how many of these were minted?

I love DanCarr’s work. Yes I’m a big fan. The problem is I’m slow on the draw when his new stuff hits the market. The coin you’re showing here is sure no exception. Just lovely.

Nice newp @asheland. Not sure on mintage...interesting, searched mintage figures on Dan Carr's site, as you probably had, and couldn't find any info. Cool p/u!

You'd need to contact David Emslie at Prospectors Gold & Gems - https://prospectorsgoldandgems.com/ .

The dies are made by Dan but they were struck by David. The following is from Dan's catalog:

    @dcarr

Back in 2014 Dan said he would no longer be producing the Prospector piece after that year due to the confusion . Most people never understood the difference between the two separate mintings by each party . The obvious difference was that Dan’s were the only ones with reeded edges as DE never had the ability to do so .
I know in 2014 for certain that the only site offerings from Dan were the Proof-Like 1/10 Gold and Silver at $25 and $225 respectively .
Dan may have done a small number of smooth edge early on in satin variety and other metals, but they were never available through his site, so he would have to clarify that .
If Chris spoke with Dan and he says he did around 100 in 2017 then I would have to take that as fact, however the fact that the OP’s piece only graded MS67 concerns me .

The only other difference back in the day , besides the reeded edge was also the quality of the strike .

Now it’s possible that over the years that the die has degraded, however to restrike with a 2017 date then I would assume a new die had to be created .

Hopefully Dan wil chime in as it has always been confusing to many collectors and dealers alike . I’ve seen Dave’s strikes misrepresented too many times as Dan’s over that period of time .

Even in the site catalog the 2014-2016 the Prospector fractional is listed as distributed by DE at the top, when I know it’s a fact the PL pieces I purchased from Dans website .

    What’s happening Zoin’s ??
Only used your quote because it has the details .

    Peace my Brother :)

I would like to add that prior to 2014 DE also minted a number of the Liberty Head fractional pieces and then in 2014 Dan created the Prospector piece, so Dave could have a piece more identifiable to his operation .

    My Bad !!
When I first read your comment I read it as you spoke to Dan and not Dave.

So then it all makes sense now as to why it grade MS 67

    My apologies
Please disregard part of my earlier comments

Dan does great work, and I have several of his pieces. I do not have any of Dave's...will look at his work to see what he offers. Cheers, RickO

Is there a link or "cheat-sheet"somewhere to catch me up on @dcarr? I am out of the loop but see that there is a large following.
