Chocolate Aficionados

After watching an episode of Andrew Zimmern's show on the Travel Channel I was inspired to purchase a dark chocolate cake for my birthday (which is today) from Vienna, Austria called the Sacher Torte. It's made at the historic Sacher Hotel. I figured it was the next best thing other than actually going to Vienna. I found the history of Vienna, the hotel, and the cake quite interesting.
Here's a link to the history of the cake and hotel: https://webfoodculture.com/sachertorte-taste-vienna/
And here's a picture of the cake. It arrives in a nice wooden, presentation box:
In addition to being a fan of chocolate I also love the look of chocolate brown copper. I picked up this chocolate brown 12-D a while back and recently got a Trueview. In honor of all things chocolate, please post a chocolate brown coin.

Hmmmmm... Cake. Coin. Cake. Coin.....
I'm not sure which I like better, but throw in a glass of ice cold milk and it's over!
Happy Birthday!
Be sure to post a pic of the inside of the cake!

Love chocolate.

That is a gorgeous 12-D! My parents used to travel to Vienna often and would always bring back a Sacher Torte. They are delicious, particularly with whipped cream. Enjoy!
A mega like for the cake and the Lincoln!
Holy Mackerel! That is a nice 1912-D!

Happy Birthday!
I like the Lincoln, but I would rather have the cake right now, looks delicious - Enjoy
Purchased years back and sold years back.
Santa never fails to drop off a few chocolate coins in our stockings...
I finally got enjoy some of the cake. Flavor wise, it's really sweet and has the flavor profile similar to that of dark chocolate and raspberry jam. It was really good but a little on the dry side. (I'm sure if I had a fresh piece in Vienna it would be even better.) I had some vanilla ice cream with it (I can understand why they serve it with whipped cream). Not the best picture but here's what it looks like in the inside, two layers of light brown cake with apricot jam in the middle:
It's always a little dry (although I've never had one that hadn't been brought back to the US). Trust me on the whipped cream! Enjoy the little dark chocolate circle. That was my favorite part.
And Happy Birthday!
