I also noticed Signature Confirmation (which used to be $0.75) is now $2.55. :/

In 2018, I've had 70 to 80 incoming USPS packages and about a dozen sent out. The bulk of this stuff was numismatic stuff in a priority mail envelope.

    Not a single problem.

The US Postal Service is an example of just how great our government is.

    They provide an awesome service.

that slows the carriers down big time.

I ship around 200 packages a month. The increases will make no difference my competitors will have to live with the same prices it will just cause a increase in prices across the market. I do and have thought as letters decline in volume and packages increase they should raise the letter first class price to closer to a dollar and then keep the 2-16 oz rates the same.

    That went up years ago.

I've shipped a little over 2000 packages this year. Only 1 domestic problem and 2 international problems (depending on who you believe).

With the number of packages I ship, especially priority, could effect the bottom line substantially.

You might want to research the advantage of using the Regional Rate Priority Flat Rate boxes.

Many of my usps expresses are arriving substantially late; yesterday I dropped off an express that was not tracked after the one at the post office. I called the usps help line and not only didn't the automated system recognize my clearly enunciated english entering tracking, etc., is cluttered with unnecessary and redundant introductory information in their message, finally after trying over an over again to repeat my information, I was put through to the human wait line, which was going to be over an hour before I spoke to someone. A badly broken system.

Your best avenue in your situation is to file an online complaint. You will save yourself a lot of time and aggravation, and get a quick reply by email or phone, whichever you opt for (24 hours or less). In a critical situation, it is even better to contact your regional Consumer Affairs Office of the USPS. Those reps are thoroughly trained at troubleshooting faults in the Postal mail circuit. Also, there are some Express Mail destinations based on your location that DO NOT offer a 24 hour guarantee for delivery. You need to know that going in to preparation of a shipment. If your destinations are not exceptions to the 24 hour guarantee, the good news is that you will be fully refunded fees if the delivery is actually late.

I was having a conversation with someone at lunch today, and ended up wondering when Amazon will try to buy UPS or FedEx.

Amazon doesn't need to buy UPS or FedEx. They have initiated development of their own fleet of delivery drivers. There is a standing order by Amazon for 30,000 new trucks. They're currently hiring entrepreneurs to drive private vehicles @ $18/hour, which is more than my USPS hourly rate as a Rural Carrier on a motorized route..

That's good advice. I have had great results with the USPS but I have had a few issues with commercial pickups at a company I worked for. They called me twice and followed up after my complaint through there portal. I was given a direct email as well with an actual human responding it that region it seem very effective.

Have one problem shipment now. 7 day no show and buyer wants a refund. It is hung up near Sacramento. Fortunately it is a cheap coin. Stars are lucky sometimes.

I'll bet it gets there. I get a lot of delays, but they almost always get there.

I wonder how the USPS bottom line would be affected if Amazon got a better deal with UPS and went with it....according to some reports they are losing money by dealing with Amazon...not true but I guess that would eliminate that excuse

They could make a ton of money charging for delivery of packages arriving from China. It costs me a minimum of $2.66 to ship a one ounce parcel across the street while I can order a battery for my car key from China for $0.99 with free shipping. There is something wrong with this picture.

Funny you should mention that as this was announced yesterday. The e-Packet rate has killed domestic sellers of small consumer items.

WASHINGTON — President Trump plans to withdraw from a 144-year-old postal treaty that has allowed Chinese companies to ship small packages to the United States at a steeply discounted rate, undercutting American competitors and flooding the market with cheap consumer goods.

I suppose the Feds losing so much money with the postal service delivering Amazon packages for free they had to do something.
It’s alright, we’ll pick up the tab. Of course this is just my take on the subject.

Actually, it's the USPS employees benefit / retirement packages that is the primarily driving their costs, but on the other hand, I love AMZN delivery. I'm not even a prime member, but I've gotten delivery on Sundays many times. Sometimes it was the postal circus, sometimes others, but as long as it's sold by / shipped by AMZN it shows up in 2-3 days.

First Class package service will get more interesting is it will be by zone / weight class. Also, it appears that the TRS postage discount goes away, as the postage class pricing difference will be eliminated.

Here's the proposed rates for FCPS:

I see a lot of delays. What's interesting to me is that 99% of the time, if I file a find mail, the package starts moving again within 48 hours. They aren't as lost as it seems, it turns out.

Is that chart from eBay? It still shows a HUGE discount in pricing from USPS retail rates.

I would pay them more, not to deliver unsolicited junk mail to my box. What say you?

I hardly get any. You may be accidentally soliciting based on your buying patterns.
