Lovely coin from one of the best eras in Haitian history - the late 19th century saw some political stability, economy was good and country was largely free of natural disasters. A lot of the homes in Port Au Prince were built during that era.

I just noticed that this is in-line with the Latin Monetary Union Standard of .900 fine and 25 grams for coins equivalent to 5 Francs. I don't think they were part of the union, but they must have used its standards due to the French influence in the country.

Very nice and underrated. Hard to find nice ones from a poor, humid country where money was spent, not collected.
