Is that cool or should that be in BST?

I think the latter which is why I just said wish me luck. I am shifting gears a bit with my collection - and moving some cards I was able to upgrade.

Figured I’d start the thread now. I am still waiting for the raw item to be logged. The rest are up and I can ‘Review Soon’ but the listings and photos have a ‘shell’ up on the PWCC marketplace site.

Pretty smooth so far. On their end. I’m a wreck.

My hope is that they’ll catch more eyes and command higher prices.

Keep us posted, I for one am very curious. I also wonder if a new consignor catches HE designations, and what type of prices you get. GOOD LUCK

I have to much S**t; so if you working on sets or are a player/team collector, send me your want list, with conditions desired. Keep in mind I have a another job so please allow me a few days to respond.

I use PWCC for anything I sell over $50. They are the best. And buyers can snipe to get your cards. Any buyers don't have to park at a computer and watch the auction close 7 times.

    Collecting PSA 9's from 1970-1977. Raw 9's from 72-77. Raw 10's from '78-'83.
Collecting Unopened from '72-'83; mostly BBCE certified boxes/cases/racks.
    Prefer to buy in bulk.

I had a few questions for them and they got back to me very quickly - within a couple of hours. Service has been really top notch so far.

I was also told one item is being considered for the HE designation but a final decision has not been made yet. That would be pretty cool, though.

I have used PWCC before too and definitely agree with sdub that for cards over $50 they are a great service to use. I don't believe being a new consignor has much to do with getting a HE designation or not. I sent them a 66 card set to break and there were two cards I thought had a good possibility for HE designation. One of them did receive it. Up to that point I think I had only sent them about three cards to sell for me. I found out the card received the HE designation when they posted the cards for review. Ironically the card that got HE designation barely got VCP, but the other card without the HE designation got more than double what I was expecting, so you never know with bidders.

    Best of luck OP!

The anticipation of watching your PWCC auction end and see the price jump is so much fun. Best of luck!

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.

Good luck! I had great success with them selling my wax collection over the summer. Their Client portal is very nice and be sure to review and edit your items as they become available. Brent and staff have always been quick to respond and address any questions or concerns that I had. And the upfront advance coupled with the payouts made for a nice cycle of cash flow.

I got a HE designation on my first consignment with them, a 54 Howe. It’s been the only one I’ve gotten.

Good luck on yours. I just used PWCC for the first time this month as well.

A high grade common is already higher than any price I can find with 8 days to go, so hopefully that’s a good sign for all of us.

Its about the halfway point for most of my lots today.

One observation is the number of ‘watchers’ on these auctions FAR surpasses anything I get when I list. Probably obvious but worth a mention.

I’m really enjoying this a bit more than I expected already. Can’t wait to see what happens when the gavel drops.

Good luck with your submission. You’ll do great! I think PWCC’s service is fantastic and would go with them every day of the week for Vintage. For newer cards where values are more unstable, it’s a little tougher as it can be as much as 45 days from time you submit to auction closing depending on where you are with their submission cycle. I’ve watched in horror as values for my cards dropped while I was waiting for my sub to be listed in their next auction.

With around two days to go, it’s starting to get real. I mean, the items are obviously long gone and the actual payoff is a ways away but man I get butterflies every time I log in now. A bit of a mixed bag in terms of my expectations but you expect that to be the case. As I have learned with the few items I have auctioned myself over the years, I am not going to ‘guess’ until the hammer drops on each lot. Big snipes are possible but so is lack of interest - I’ve experienced both already :)

I have really enjoyed it, though - the PWCC user experience is great so far from website to customer service to communication.

I’m like you, I really have no idea what to expect the rest of the way. I’ve refreshed it more times than I do waiting for poppage though.

I’m also somewhat limited in my ‘pricing comparables’ as I do not pay for pricing or sales data and there isn’t a lot I’ve found.

I have a short print modern ted williams card out of Topps. Last I checked Beckett had it at $150. The card is graded 10. I was going to send to Sterling Sports Auctions but what does everyone is the best to do?

    Thanks.

Now that the auctions are done, can we see the cards and prices realized? That shouldn't violate the BST.

Well, if you were to look up the values for my favorite set on Auction Prices Realized, each card has only one sale except Mantle (a few), Berra (1), and Lemon (1) and it’s from yesterday.

Read into that what you like. ;)

Most of them seem to have sold for $80-90.

  • Options
    1951WheatiesPremium1951WheatiesPremium Posts: 6,244 ✭✭✭✭✭

That’s about right. With the exception of the Mantle which outperformed my expectations by a considerable sum.

To be honest, I didn’t think they’d go for much more than that. As I’ve mentioned many times, I don’t really know of anyone else who collects the set despite its beauty and scarcity. Of the guys on the Registry, only one other seems to have the set up because he owns it and likes it. The only other guy who collects them is an SGC guy. They mostly appeal to master set collectors and I was pretty happy overall and ecstatic with the Mickey.

I’ve got another 10 cards tonight and a half dozen more later.

I’m very pleased. I got killed on a few high grade commons that were honestly not high end for the grade.

On the other hand, did exceptional on the better looking cards.

Overall I’m ahead of where I expected to be.

    I’ll use them again.

Overall, I’d say I’m impressed. Still have one or two items left but I am for the most part pleased with the results thus far.

I’m not sure if I maxed out on some but the margin by which I maxed out on my ‘best’ lots made up for it.

I’m curious to see how things will finish up.

    More to come...

So, last night I received notice that my consignment report was ready. It’s itemized, clean and easy to read. The check will go out Monday so I should have it by the end of the week.

The speed and ease so far is great; you could literally never interact with anyone at all, if you so chose, other than to consign initially (approval of list) and requesting edits. I like to ask questions when I’m curious but it’s first rate any time you need anything.

I saw some people frustrated with the ‘no return’ policy - if you send an item by mistake or ‘mistake’. I get it but everyone has remorse when they let something great go and PWCC’s got such great inventory up there that would be pulled back often if the price was too low or the consignor had a change of heart...

Their service is impeccable. You just have to be careful not to include items that will go too cheaply or you could actually owe them more than the card sells for given their fee structure.

I have consigned with PWCC one time. The only issue I had was that the buyer didn't pay for one of the cards. I asked PWCC to return the card to me and they refused. I was told that it is their policy to relist the card at a later time. This was a Kobe Bryant card that was the only one that PSA had ever graded. I knew that when they relisted it the selling price would be lower because people would think something fishy had happened with the original listing. It sold for 20-25% less the second time.

    Kinda surprised you consigned.

And I mean that a compIiment; I almost asked you for advice recently because when you list items for sale on the boards they seem to go in minutes or at worst hours...

I'm a first time guy with PWCC too and in big. Sure hope the snipes come in good at the end, will be nerve wracking until then. That being said we're getting closer to christmas, and not sure that's a great thing for sales timing to be honest.

Now looking for a 1950 Bowman Baseball Box as pictured below.
