"You can observe a lot by just watching."

Attributed to New York Yankee catcher Yogi Berra, how has this self-referential quote influenced your coin collecting?
For me, a lot of research insights come from reading original materials, and carefully allowing the authors to tell their story in their own way. A corollary is to never assume something is "lost" or "destroyed" - even if the experts tell you so.

The "experts" are never wrong. After all they are experts!
You don't need to be a collector to be a numismatist.
...it has to be this place and all’s youse in it...100 percent, without the CU coin forum I would have been out...just when I thought I was out; they pull me back in!
Nothing to add except that I love Yogisms.
I can see a lot just by looking!
Half of coin collecting is 90% mental. A nickel isn't worth a dime today.
In the scope of things , it is all scrutinizing.
That's my guess.
I'm a flight attendant, and sometimes that statement.....well, it's just amazing!

"It's like deja vu all over again."
"Coin collecting is 50% knowledge, 50% opportunity, and 50% patience."
I wouldn't know half the stuff I know if it wasn't for this place.

"You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there." An excellent quote...might be a tad disjointed, but the point is clear. Cheers, RickO
And, you don't need to be a numismatist to be a collector.
"Nobody goes there anymore - it's too crowded."
"If collectors don't want to buy your coin, you can't stop them."
Don't believe what you hear, believe what you see !!!
