What Happened?
I sense a few, more prominent long time members have ghosted us. What's up with that?

I had to look up the term "ghosted". It means to end a relationship by suddenly and without any explanation withdrawing from all communication. We're mostly an older group so a member will occasionally get sick or even die. Other times member's interests will change and they just move on.

Others continue to haunt us.
I have often wondered where the Vam experts are. I know Messydesk, Dennis H and a couple of others are still here occasionally. There are several names from the past though, that look like they have not logged on in a long time.
Yeah, maybe. Interests wax and wane. My activity here slid a bit but picked up recently. Immaturity, mean posts, trolls, a weak market, and lack of intellectually stimulating topics take a toll.
There have been a few members recently that have been less 'visible'....and a few that have 'rejoined' after a hiatus...I think it is, for the most part, a natural cycle. Attrition will occur in any large group. Cheers, RickO
I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, ... but that's where it seems the rest of society is, if not ATS.
Then there's FarmersOnly.com.

I tried to join but they said my weed garden did not qualify...
Many dealers are on the Facebook page Coin Dealers Helping Coin Dealers (CDHCD). Things sell and there is no drama.
What's a facebook, who is a twitter? Snapchat hope I don't steep in it, Pinterest I don't like games and I got linkedin once will never do that again, I just learned how to swipe.
Hoard the keys.
Drama? What drama?

Sadly so true !!!
Please don't hate on me for this and I can only truly write for myself, but I have spoken to a fair number of the knowledgeable, generous and honest coin dealers who do or have participated on the PCGS site and a common complaint is the sheer number of dealer bashing (for lack of a better term) threads or posts that appear over and over. Quite a few of us have our fellow collectors and dealers protection in mind, but after a while anti-dealer posts and sentiments can wear most folks down and leave them wondering why they attempt to help. I know that I sometimes wonder.

What drama? Did I miss something?
Tom. That's a great insight. It's easy to jab at someone when it's only a hobby. When it's a livelihood, why stand there to catch the rotten vegetables?
I have enjoyed this forum for close to a decade, and many of you have been here much longer than that. A lot of drama has come and gone. As sure as the sun comes up, drama will come and go in the future. I’m as guilty as the next of posting jokes and things not related to US coins in an attempt to entertain and keep things fun. I’m also guilty of sometimes trying to discourage the parking lot penny posters. Having confessed my sins, I’d like to air some of my thoughts on what I think about the present day forum. We have some outstanding members on this forum who have knowledge second to none. If you are here long enough you know who they are and you know what they’re expert in. One thing that I don’t value are the threads about who you like or who you would miss if they left the forum. I remember this sort of stuff in high school and most of us are way beyond that. We all are a tiny part of this forum that makes it what it is. I may not remember you but if enough of you leave the forum, it becomes noticeable. Without naming them, we have lost the company of a few well known members and not because they were banned. Having drama get carried away to the point that the host has to modify the program is a testament to what was going on in the forum. (glad to see everyone made it out alive) Another thing that has somewhat changed the forum is the giveaways. I enjoy winning a token or low cost coin once in a while but to offer a $200 or $300 coin giveaway every 3 or 4 weeks seems to be a desperate attempt to win popularity. Its fantastic if you want to be outstanding in your generosity but there is a specific category for coin swaps, tags and giveaways.
