Is this an example of an R.P.M?

Thanks for the help! :)

I cannot tell from that picture.... It appears something is there, but not clear enough to determine RPM or PMD.....Try another picture with more focus and direct lighting. Cheers, RickO

Here is a picture of FS-501.

  • Exactly, Pete. Out of all the 1964-D RPM's, the 501 is the only one that looks like mine.....what do you think? I know the picture isn't the best....

I'm on the fence. I'm inclined to say that it is, though. The lower serif shows on both specimens. Your coin looks to be an LDS (Later Die State).

  • I really believe it is, I wish you could see it in person......it's so much bigger and fatter than a regular "D" mintmark on the 1964 Jefferson Nickel........

But you're right, mine clearly shows 2 split serifs on the RPM to the south which is the #1 identifier for this rare variety FS-501.

Sending out to PCGS soon! Wish me luck! :)

  • Thanks, Bob!

Mr. John Wexler says this mintmark has die deterioration doubling, and is not repunched....

But I think I might have to disagee considering the mintmark is waaaay fatter than any other "D" mintmark on a 1964 nickel.
