Help With Identification

Going through some of my older raw stuff and I can not find this online. It is dated 1788 or 1798. I thought the "2 S" on the reverse might be "two shillings" or "two sous" but did not really see anything matching what I have. It is pretty worn so I can not make out much more. Any help is appreciated as always.

  • It's a French 2 soles with some cool history considering that the guy on it, Louie the 16th, was beheaded the year after this coin was minted. The type was made from 1791-93 during the revolution, but yours is dated year 4 which is 1792. Mint mark would be on the other side and could be one of several.

Highly enthusiastic about world coins, contemporary circulating counterfeits and unusual stuff <3

Thank you very much. So what I thought was 1798 is 1792. I love the history behind coins and that is why I love old chunky coins. :-)
