An utterly gorgeous coin with a little wear. Reminds me of a Barber dime I created the grade “AU-59” for.

In many cases, the coin is better in hand than in the Heritage images, sometimes way more so. I'm wondering if this coin is somewhat prooflike, where you tilt it just right to get the colors? That could also explain the differences in the images.

What you are describing was named "Apparent Prooflike Toning." It especially occurs with blue colors. The reflection of light from the toning makes the surface below appear to be mirror-like. Back in the 1970's I described this effect. Using a Bust half dime with partial deep blue toning, I suspended a paper clip over the coin's surface and made an image. The clip reflected nicely in the blue areas (PL!) and disappeared completely on the gray surface between the blue areas. Then appeared again on the toned part.
The glamor shot is over the top to me because it’s hard to believe that is what one would see in hand. And if by chance it is accurate, I find the cartoonish colors for this coin unattractive. I know, I’m in the minority!

Sorry, I am a detractor here. The Tru view shots do not show the coin in hand as has been shown. I don't like the coin in the slightest because looking at it in natural light is not pleasing. I don't know if it is a scarce overton, but the date/grade is common as dirt.
I would never buy a coin with the Tru view scans, you won't get what you think you are paying for.

Very pretty coin. It's amazing what a difference lighting makes. Below is the same coin under two different lighting conditions. I can guarantee the photos have not been digitally manipulated in any extreme way.

DUH. You got that one right...but, I'm sure that if it's tilted and played with just right under 5x magnification and under the proper lighting it will give a lot of enjoyment to the lucky owner. It's a pretty coin.
Regarding TrueViews, I'm not saying this is always the case, but I went out on a limb and purchased this coin based on TrueView only and it was even more impressive in hand. It represents the coin well but is a static photo while you can see the light bounce off the coin when you hold it in hand.

There was some talk about whether Heritage could license TrueView photos for their Auctions. Legend's Auctions used TrueViews a while back, but I'm sure about recently.

Yowza!
Yikes! What happen to it.:)
Incredible
I used to own this coin. So, I will confirm. Yes, it is as pretty in hand as in the photo. I also believe it is undergraded.
Vibrant colors
Fantastic toning!! That’s a beautiful coin!

Great eye appeal on that Bustie and I've seen alot of nice ones. Certainly within the top 10.

So which image is more accurate? The beauty shot or the auction image?

Both, they're just different angles and lighting.

Looks like a Christmas tree melted over the coin.

PS I owned a 1812 AU55 from the Frederick Collection and it was lovely.
If that shot by Heritage is not redone there should be an investigation. The consignor should be pissed!!

Even though the coin isn’t in great condition, the toning is fascinating indeed!
