So the PSA 10 sells for $125,000 and the SGC Gem Mint 10 sells for $18,000. I have never seen this much of a gap between PSA and SGC for the exact same card in the same auction. Did I miss something?

My non basketball collecting opinion:
The PSA card looks nearly PERFECT! The perforations appear almost perfectly centered between the individual cards. The T/B centering on both is off slightly but the SGC appears short next to the PSA. The tops appear about the same but the bottoms appear different. Those more familiar with the SGC holders may correct me but it appears to have more room T/B in the SGC holder than L/R.
I always ask myself this with hockey cards. If it sells for more in a PSA holder why is it in an SGC holder? Especially if you are sending it to a Auction house and not listing it yourself.

I think we both know the answer to that.

That is a nice card!
I had been told a few had changed hands on the private market for this price range a year and a half ago but this has to be a record for a public sale of the card.
Here are the two cards. I am not a collector of this series they both look incredible to me. I would buy something else with the differential if I had that kind of cash and be happy with the one that cost $18k.
I do see that the perforations are better centered (as pointed out by LOTSOS) on the bottom one and not sure how that normally effects grading.
The one on the bottom is FAR superior centering/perforation wise.
As someone who owns a PSA 10 Bird rookie and a PSA 10 Magic rookie, I'm quite happy with the result.

The PSA copy is noticeably superior. Not just the centering of the perforations, but the SGC copy has some minor, but very noticeable PD above Larry, Dr. J, and Magic.
No chance the SGC copy would ever cross or--if cracked out--would receive a PSA 10.
they are both great cards.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Holy string bidding, Batman.
