In the first 9 posts, 8 deal with the new palladium coin. Am I the only one that will be happy when the hysteria over this coin dies down? :#

Sadly, it's become a bandwagon society we live in.

It's interesting to see the conjecture. Where will they be in a week? A month? A year?

Agree. How did last year's palladium coin do? What was the original sale price? What was the highest value it reached? What is its current value? I'm guessing this coin will follow a similar trajectory.

Last year’s bullion version was in the $1,000-$1,150 range raw (more for graded) when the various vendors put them up for sale. The price has fallen a bit from the highs achieved back then but I’ve seen another spike with the issue of the proof. Raw coins are going in the $1,550-$1,750 range on eBay now (they had fallen to as low as $1,400 on eBay before the spike).

Since I collect Mercury Dimes and Walking Liberty Half Dollars, I was interested. I love the design. Did not realize it was going to be this popular.

Flipping fever rules..... Not sure how many collectors (real collectors) are involved...from what I see it is mainly flippers/dealers right now... Cheers, RickO

Yes, I got the coin to flip. Selling to a dealer down the street from me that I buy coins for my collection. Yes, I'm making about $240 on the coin but he in turn has given me great deals on the coins I do need. Works great for both of us! Blessings

Last time I bought something from the mint was...…...NEVER! I'm a collector not a flipper.

Disagree. Collectors buy coins from the US Mint all the time to keep for their collections. I have a subscription with the US Mint for the 5 oz silver ATB coins and I have yet to flip a single coin. I have many other coins in my collection that I have bought from the US Mint that I have no intention of ever selling..

True collectors will eventually rule and the "craze" will end.

Then the "price guide" will be written and the value locked in stone ( or plastic, as it were).

Has the fury of the Proof Palladium $25 bullion round affected the prices of the 2017 BU issue?

For better or worse, genuine Collectors buy stuff directly from the U.S. Mint every single day.

It seems whenever the mint sells a popular low mintage coin, there's a feeding frenzy with most buyers having no interest in the coin other than how much money they can make when they flip it. It's a shame that greed is such a big part of our hobby. :/

Greed permeates every facet of our society. Numismatics is no exception.

The whole thing will die down very quickly. Those who strike while the iron's hot can make a few bucks.
