Looks bad. Category 4 now (140 mph), and expected to stay at "M" strength (> 110 mph) until very close to the coast.

Stay Safe
Yikes! My daughter is down there on vacation all this week.
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
May all of you in the area stay safe and no harm or loss happens to you and yours.
Was in Myrtle Beach SC this morning on business, crazy busy down there getting ready for the storm.
On my way back to central NC this afternoon, there was a steady stream of traffic (mostly northerners cutting vacations short) heading north.
I've purchased some extra fuel for my generator and enough food/water for a week or so.
This one looks much worst than Matthew two summers ago.

I've gone through many hurricanes in my life (I even remember riding out Carla back in 61). The winds of Cat 1's and 2's never really scared me but 3's and above are terrifying. I also learned a long time ago, that a stalled tropical depression can be devastating too. I also learned that if you want to evacuate from a major metropolitan area, you better leave before the rush begins. I once spent over 10 hours on a Houston freeway trying to evacuate ahead of a storm and I moved a total of about 2 miles in that time. We turned around and went home (took about 30 mins going the other way) and rode out the storm.
The large black circle S is over my house. I am also in the power restoration business. If I miss some updates, you will know why.

The news video will be all about the wave crashing into the coast but I am even more worried about the inland flooding. People need to take the evacuation orders seriously.
Good luck !!!
I have a lot of family there. Prayers that way.
I live in Raleigh and I was here for Fran back in 1996. Not much you can do when over a foot of rain is dropped with winds nearing hurricane speed....it's been raining here this week already so the ground is already saturated and the trees will turn over easily.
Don't quote me on that.
I went to the beach for 20 years in a row until being evacuated twice in a row. I quit. Now my brother, sister and myself and our families are going back to the beach October 1st. Hope Florence is the last one to be concerned with this year and I pray that the least amount of damage and injuries possible is the result of Florence. Bless you all.

Good luck to all of you that are down there.
I hope it cuts off to the North and doesn't hit the coast directly.
My nephew is at dead center on the coast of NC. If it hits as a Cat 4 as now predicted (or even Cat 3), this is gonna be like Port Aransas from Harvey last year - everything gone and/or severely damaged. He has already evacuated, no one should be silly enough to stay, this is going to be a dangerous one (I've been through many hurricanes on the gulf), so anyone reading this and living in or near ground zero, please evacuate, you owe it to yourself.
Best, SH
I'm in western NC. It looks like it'll miss my area, but I bet we get a lot of rain though.

Midlands SC gas is scarce and stores are running low on drinking water and bread. Hopefully here it will just be a rain event, but I feel bad for those near the coast. Be careful.
Be safe all.
On a coin note, it is my experience that auctions ending while a major hurricane is in the news, with evacuations and all, may have lower end prices. Just today a won a coin for less than a third of my Nuke bid.

Take care and be safe Jon!
Yes, Jon, be safe!
Please protect your inventory or bring it with you.

My daughter and her family are in Jacksonville (just outside actually, but she and her husband work in Jacksonville)...Looks like a direct hit at this time. I believe they are going to get out and go west....This looks like it will be a bad one. Cheers, RickO

How's everyone holding up so far ?
The track has shifted way south from Raleigh, so we should be just a rain event with some wind...but who knows.
Don't quote me on that.
Good luck !!!
Be safe !
My prayers to all to be safe.
Raleigh has an 80% chance of seeing winds in excess of 39 mph.
It's a big storm, so there will be damage a good distance from the center of the storm.
Any current update ?
Wow, I'm watching the Weather Channel and it's terrible. Please keep safe !!!
Midlands SC here. Clouds moving in, winds picking up a bit. Just that "feeling" that bad stuff is coming. Likely loss of power and heavy rain and wind. Upped the insurance already just in time. Feel bad for those on the coast.
