@markelman1125, I admit bias. I think bust half dollars...among the very first coins minted by our young country and without question the workhorses of their day, are the most exciting and intriguing of contemporary coins.
Bust halves, coined from hand-made dies, tell great stories about the early Mint's struggles. Coining silver wasn't possible without depositors, who trusted the new Mint with their flatware and teapots, willing to wait weeks or months for settlement. Commerce, banking and trade quickly depended on half dollars as the country's largest denomination. For more than 30 years the half dollar was king.
Even more fun about these great historical pieces is their individuality. Dies couldn't be completely hubbed due to strike limitations of the screw press. Each die required additional punching for completion. Lettered-edge capped bust halves were struck from more 450 different die pairs.
Varieties (die marriages) are easily attributed. Some are so scare as to command six digits. The Redbook lists numerous overdates, blundered strikes/errors and quirky numeric and letter styles. All are fun!
Congrats on acquiring a very nice late example. Take a look at some of the early dates. Even at VF grades many are intriguing and sure to please.

That is a very nice looking coin and an ok price. PCGS Price Guide is usually high retail so that should not be your top bid most of the time. If you check CoinFacts auction records you will see that while one recent coin sold for $276 the rest are in the $130-$180 range.

They are retail. Coins may go for less (sometimes more) at auction. Depends on the coin and bidders.

Eye appeal comes very much into play too! There is always a “wow” coin or a “blah” coin for a slabbed or unslabbed coin for a given grade. The price difference can be $100’s if not many $1,000’s of dollars. One needs to view coins in hand or have a dealer you trust that knows his or her stuff. The price guide is just that, a guide. From there one decides to pay up for a coin or to take a pass. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have tossed the guide and gone with my head and gut, especially when I know that a certain coin is legitimately rare in choice condition. Sometimes dealers don’t have a clue and will price a very choice example of a coin at the price level in the guide. Sounds good to me. One needs to really be on top of their given series to understand why a certain coin sold for X at auction. Of course things fall through cracks from time to time too.

It looks like a very nice coin for a good price. Bust halves are hard to resist.
I saw this auction with about 45 seconds to go and didn't bother to place a bid as the seller (Dave Kahn) usually seems to garner full retail (if not higher) on his certified coins. Nice win.
While looking at this auction I clicked over to his other sales and put in a low bid on this one not expecting it to hold. It did and I won an R-5+ (approximately 31 to 45 known examples) for less than past auction prices--let alone retail.
Maybe Dave is losing his touch.
