I would rather see this one in hand and tilt the surfaces. Without question it is a rare coin. And I suspect finding one in a comparable state of preservation is no easy task.

That is like the nicest thing you ever said to me.........but never the less all opinions are welcomed.
Now that I know it is your coin, I must consider that It also could be altered surfaces Or it could have been April 20th again Hoping the world is no longer turned upside down for you.

Thanks. I would be a bit disappointed in the 60. Why did they knock it down from a 63? Personally, I think it a very nice AU. From the pics, Ms. Liberty's breasts look flat, especially her right one. It could be pics.
I know it's hard to find, but I admit I am not a fan.
Overdipped and unattractive splotchy retoning.....at least from the images provided.
And I think it's only going to get worse.
A nabob of negativism has reared his head. I like the lean of the 55 in the date, looks like their dashing to the right. I like this coin alot! Peace Roy
realone - I wish I owned a seated dollar, much less a rare date. I'm envious and happy for you.
The splotchy toning spots would bother me to no end based upon the picture and as such I would choose another. However, you've described something more attractive when viewing in hand. I hope that the coin is all that you desire!

A nice scarce coin still in high grade condition overall, however the location and appearance of the "splotchy toning" and, especially the rather bad marks covered by it, make me think someone thumbed it or applied a substance to try to improve the appearance before submission, and it has since Turned in the decades since. Nonetheless, no argument from me with a net 60 but unlikely to certify higher at pcgs, if at all, IMO. cool 5s!

Very early in the Amos Press ownership of ANACS. There were two of the XXnnnn cert ranges in use at the time of the sale, EX and RE.
My highest ANA is EX18nn and my lowest Amos is EX4nnn (from memory).

This ANACS. slab is likely from the 1988-89 time frame. 60 does not seem unreasonable at the time it was graded.
