Who is America's team?

CoinstartledCoinstartled Posts: 10,135 ✭✭✭✭✭

That of course was the nickname of the Cowboys for 2 or three decades. Have not heard it recently though. The firing of Tom Landry may have hurt the image...I don't know.

Patriot's are the talent of the NFL and they are not all that loved outside of the Northeast. Besides, kneeling before the flag does not really say AMERICA, so I will exclude the NFL from the discussion.

NHL is still considered a Canadian or International sport and does not have the following of the other 3 majors. Too bad as it is perhaps the most exciting team sport that is played.

NBA does not have the hate America problem that the NFL does. The fact though that a wealthy owner can buy a winner with a trade or two takes away from the team sport aura. Golden State is probably the best America's team candidate, but the mojo is not there.

That brings us to MLB. You guys follow the game more closely than I do. Seems that the PED problem has been largely eradicated and the game is truly a team sport. Yankee's would be a good candidate as America's team, though they do have many detractors. Same could probably be said of the Red Sox.

I will nominate the Cub's. Great old stadium and the ghost of Harry Carey.

We all know it's the Philadelphia Eagles.

And if anyone gives me a LOL on this, i will personally see to it that they are forever barred from being a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Fan Club.

With society travelling down the road towards globalism and a one world order, why would it be desirable to be known as "America's Team"?

No professional team as far as I’m concerned, America has long ago lost the image of Apple Pie, Baseball and any types of “Dreams”. Half the Country is on one side and the other half is on my side.

curiously, the Arizona GlickerTigers seem to have gained traction in, oh, the past couple of weeks or so

Atlanta braves used to claim they were Americas team.

The short answer is, “no one.” You follow the teams you like, and none of the professional teams can be called “America’s team.” If there is an “America’s team” it’s the group of athletes we send to the Olympics every two years.

In a pre-game interview yesterday Aaron Rogers was asked who he thought was Americas team. He felt it was the Packers.

Braves and Cubs were the only teams you could get basically every game on basic cable when that all started.

It sure isn’t the Braves for me. I am a confirmed Yankee hater but the Braves aren’t far behind. It gets me how you can have team that wins as much as they have over the last 25 years, and yet they have continuing attendance problems.

I'm throwing my hat in with Boston Red Sox. I was at Fenway Park last year and watched them play the Yankees in a huge comeback game. Being from Canada and seeing that Classic stadium blew me away, I loved every second of it. My brother and I got scalped tickets for $20 each, we then proceeded to spend about 2 Grand on bad beer but it was worth it. I am a big fan of Boston the city & the Sox not big on the Patriots and I cant stand the Bruins.

You're all wrong. America's team is the Florida Marlins.
