I think he was great in the "Evening Shade" TV show, one of my favorites.

He was to play the owner of the ranch that Manson was renting
    George Spahn?
    BTW, Manson was not "renting"...

Yes Reynolds was to play Spahn

I’m not sure that the 80 year old Spahn letting Manson stay at his ranch while having sex with Manson’s girls isn’t called renting. Call it what you will

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Around 1977-78 I was driving up to the ranch going up hill. Coming down hill a car went by. The driver, I thought, was Mr. Reynolds and the passenger in that car was a very beautiful and famous celebrity at that time. She was a cousin of a good friend of mine. When I got home, I called my buddy and asked him if what and who I saw was correct. He said, "Yea, we're having a barbeque. They're on a beer run. Come on over!" I did. Bottom line, Mr. Reynolds was a regular guy. Down to earth , fun, and just someone who you could drink a beer with, eat some ribs and have a good time with. People are people. No matter the fame and fortune. I came away thinking that he just wanted to be a regular guy and that at heart he really was one. It was a fun party. Better than most. I didn't really know him but somehow I think I did. RIP.

I watch TCM a lot and they have been showing a "Remembering" clipoin Burt. One of the clips he let's go with one of his iconic laughs. He was special and down to earth and will be missed.
