Somehow Johann Christian Reich ( father of US Mints John Reich) managed to get the following on one medal:

The US represented by Liberty with cap with pole and a 13 stripped shield

The arms of Europe depicting Germany, England, France and Spain with their shields

The sieges of Gibraltar and Port Mahon in the backdrop.

Overlooking all is a watchful Eve of Providence.

And that is only the obverse!

The reverse unfolds with a scene of Peace and Plenty literally putting her foot down on the warrior Mars all the while a Fame decries ”Etat Pax” a state of peace from above.

This piece is a lustre bomb and the copper scavenger did its job. This medal fits in nicely with as an off shoot to my Libertas medals and tokens

What's with all these German medals celebrating the Treaty of Paris? ;)

    Love this piece!

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

An amazing medal. The complexity is incredible, and one could study it for hours - both sides. Thanks for showing us... Cheers, RickO

Cool! I have no clue about these so what is the "plug" all about?

@Wabbit2313 the copper plug/ scavenenger was to prevent corroding. The copper plug attracts any corrosive elements and collects them. It’s the honey to the bee

@afford I’m pretty sure it was considering the Dutch Gov presented a white metal example to John Adams in 1787 which later found its way into the Massachusetts Historical Society collection

    Nice pick-up!!

The white metal examples are not particularly scarce; however, many of them are either blighted by tinpest, or poorly struck. The OP is quite choice for the grade!! :)

    Thanks!

Indeed. I’ve seen several of these over the years but never one I loved. I take that back. There was one in Stacks that didn’t hit the reserve. It ended up in another auction and hammered almost 2k lower then the previous reserve.
