What the heck? Has anyone ever seen this before? Love Sellers who add impediments to potential Buyers...geez!

eBay link:

eBay Message when I attempted to bid:

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

It's awfully high standard for seller to set such limitation. Do you think the seller might've intended to block buyer with zero feedback ?

    I’ve seen similar messages before.

It could make sense if a seller is running a promotion and wants to limit how many items are purchased or if they want to prevent a low feedback buyer/scammer from purchasing multiple items at once (and later doing a chargeback), but usually I don’t see a good reason for it.

You can probably message the seller and they may be able to let you purchase more.

The guy is selling tons of 90% silver. One of his auctions just ended. Sold 605 Mercury dimes $585. Free shipping too.

I'm lost as to what this character is up to. He does say in his description that shipping will be delayed 30 days. Feels scamming in a way.

I saw something like that once. The seller did not want you biffing on more than a certain # of auctions at one time. Stupid approach.

I guess he was trying to insulate himself from someone might win a bunch of auctions and then not pay. All he did was prevent me from bidding up auctions that I had every intention of paying for if I won.

I think I messaged him and he changed it, but what an insane option for eBay to even offer.

I got the message as well I was going to throw a few bids in but something seems weird to me. Shipping is way to long also. I'm thinking he gets your money you wait 30 days and he sells more stuff and then just refunds your money money later. I dont know though but something stinks for sure

    Loss leader promotion.

Is the only time I have seen something like this.

Actually, you'll find the same thing on Amazon. When people are trying to built client lists, they will often offer "too good to be true" deals. But they don't want 1 person buying up the entire offering. Amazon also has the "one to a customer" option.

Hmmmm. It let me bid. He has similar auctions from back in Jun with the 30 day caveat, and received positive feedback.

It's hard to understand all of the variables or reasons why people do what they do. (Including me sometimes :open_mouth:)

If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

I have my account set to not allow too many purchases from the same bidder who has under a certain number of feedback... like 5 or so. I've had a few brand new bidders bid up every item and not pay, which costs me a lot of time and money. The way he has that one set is a little odd though.

    Always?

Saturday and Sunday don't count. 5 business days perweek

If I received a message like that, I would just move on. Further, reading the information he posted on shipping, I would not bid. Cheers, RickO

over 20 current auctions - looks like they are having ebay fund their getaway trip.

Perhaps he or she is drumming up new customers for further promotions by restricting bidders to one bid or some such thing...

    VERY high buyer of ...silver....
    LONG time teletype member.

TRIED speccing the market and lost.
    LOTS of stiffed dealers.

Only way....I... got paid was calling his bank. Talked to acct rep who gave me a clearing number and told me that the account would be closed completely in ....EIGHT minutes!

Whew. Couple of restless nights after his excuses. :#:#
