Friday! Metal Porn! WHAT'S NEW?

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,935 ✭✭✭✭✭

Going to take me a long time to recover from the Baht necklace hangover. But I did continue the slow march of Mexican silver. Did you get anything this week?

I may end up shipping these to a friend to refine for me. I tend to stay away from from Pd refining, gold on the other hand is quite easy, so is silver.

Those CCM bars look great all stacked up!

I typically don’t buy items I already have, but there is something about about the shape of these in 5 oz that makes we want to literally stack them.
Extruded bars with clean hallmarks and straight lettering make a great presentation.

I like those 5 oz. bars... and agree they look great in a stack. Cheers, RickO

A little different pick up this week. Not metal, but metal related. I thought I would share it here in case anybody here needed some storage solutions. I did some organizing in the safe yesterday. Trying to consolidate and make room. I was looking for the blue cardboard Apmex boxes to store some bars because they fit certain size bars and tubes perfectly.

So I went to my local coin shop and took a shot in the dark to see if he had any there. He told me “All I have are the plastic ones”. I never heard of, or seen the plastic boxes before. So he came out from the back with this.

These are the most rugged boxes I have seen, and you can fit a ton of 10 oz. bars in them. I believe if you place an order big enough, Apmex ships it in one of these. I’ve only ever received the cardboard boxes. I don’t see them on their web site either.

I've been using this type box for a few years now. 153-5oz bars......

@cmanbb...153 5 oz. bars in a box.... very nice, compact storage. Those gold ingots are lovely....Cheers, RickO

@Wildidea I also have the CCM 5 oz kit kat bar. I see them in the 10 oz and all the way up to the 50oz size. But I just have the one 5 oz version. They usually carry one heck of a premium as you mention.

cman, I couldn’t believe you were liquidating all of your poured 10oz. Engelhards, but you ended up with an even better stack of metal! Value aside....I don’t which I like better, the gold pyramid or that box of sealed 5 oz.ers. Eye candy to the extreme..

@cmanbb, the bar with the even type of screen on the back is pretty wild. I dig that. Thanks for sharing all of them.

3rd series 10oz ingot in Canadian variation. These examples demonstrate a ‘heavy grid’ pattern reverse.
