Perhaps someone that asked about Overton quoted a post you wrote and I missed who the actual poster was who asked the question. I couldn't believe you never heard of Overton! Anyway, It is gone now.
PS In my reply to the offending "phantom" post, I identified who Overton was,
May I request that you attribute your 1806 50C for me. Thanks!
That's short and sweet. LOL! It's no wonder I COULD NOT attribute it! I thought you had found a rare, unlisted "discovery coin." I'm shocked at how closely its design resembled several Overton 50c obverses.

I was going to answer, "U.S. Grant", but that option was oddly not available.
(Actually, I like the 1806. While the 1826 could be 100% original....it just feels "too white" for what I'm used to.
Do we get to crack the top coin out and tone it?
I like "B" but I do not know if I should pick yes or no?

"PESKY !!"

No matter. I don't like how it's panited.
hmm.... panicked?
....Pointed????
I knew this question would be too hard.
You have a lot of explaining to do...
I'll pick the 1806 as it is possibly a very rare and recently discovered coin. Far, pointed "6" and missing bottom serifs "I" and "T."
Yes because the reverse is sharper. (Yes this is a trick answer!)

I like B better.
I always struggle with shiny silver that is almost two centuries old. You'd think there would be some toning.

But that would possibly be impugning the expertise of the beanman.
Oh who looks at coins anyhow if they are APPROVED?
Always take door #3.
Everyone. Knowledge is power and no telling what you can find in "approved" slabs.
I like the 1826 CBH better (coin A).
Not sure if that is a yes or a no.

@topstuf asked:
What is its Overton number?
Overton wrote a book with images of the different dies used for Early Half dollars 1794 - 1836.
Where did topstuf ask that?
//////////////////////////////////
topstuf knows John Cobb who did all the work and ...sold... his work ....TO......... Overton.
I voted "Yes"... I like both of them better than the current coins I have!! ;-)

Interesting sidebar. John said when he did the die studies, Capped Bust Halves averaged 85 cents each. Up to a buck and a half.
I voted βyesβ for liking one coin over the other more.
?? Beats my five aces! I don't see the post or my answer to the post I quoted the Overton question from anymore! ??
Maybe because I didn't ask about Overtons.

I can't. It's an 1806 ...quarter.
That's short and sweet.
