Had this out and I figured I'd grab pics, this was only recently eclipsed as my favorite Merc.

All of them long gone. TT had a strange hidden reserve feature that Goddard and Oppenheimer would have had difficulty deciphering.

Checked my database...and was shocked to see that I have 59 Teletrade coins! (And I know I've sold a few). It was a much bigger source of coins than I remember!

One of my BIG purchases (old pics):

    1914D, PCGS MS-63

I still have the TT image too ...

Most of my TT purchases were back in the '90's before images. I still have 88 coins - sold 45.

The digital album in my sig line is about 25% TT coins.

Still got a bunch - But I think PCGS no longer list Teletrade coin auction when Cert numbers are checked.

The main thing I was into teletrade for was civil war tokens that they had listed. It was a great source for nice ones in the 80-250 price range. I picked some nice ones and they always had a great variety to bid on each week. I miss that but glad it happened at all.

You have to hold your nose to get the correct enunciation.

    Same with "Welcome to Teletrade"

Plus the phantom flower pot that threw out "incremental" bids. I thought that the reserves were set by the consignor.

Better late than never, (but certainly more relevant to the thread): I found the original TT photo of my Saint.

I bought a few coins in their earliest days-pre internet.

They used to mail a VHS tape with pictures of the coins and I think that I remember using a landline telephone to bid.

If no one else placed a bid before the auction opened, the opening amount was 7 bid increments below the reserve amount. By looking at the opening bid amount, I could calculate what the reserve was on most of the lots I was tracking. Any lot that went up 8 or more increments was going to sell.

I had some questions about a bid process on one coin and I was sent a bid history for the lot. IIRC it showed at least one "incremental" bid which was attributed to a computer bumping/shilling the lot.

I bought this one on ebay. Later I found the picture from Teletrade (and was pleased to discover I won the ebay auction for less than the final Teletrade price).
