So tired I forgot the intended purpose of the post. What is the safest way to clean this thing to get a better look at it?
Tough love from an old-timer. I see nothing of interest on your coin. Stop with all the highlights. You mention a "bar" by the "T." Take a sharp magnified image of only that and we'll go down your list of questions one at a time. No need to clean the coin.
Agree, sharp closeups of the coin would be the first step to receiving some help identifying the coin. Sounds like you are on your way to identifying some on your own, excellent! Don't clean it. Leave conservation up to the grading services.

Die #3 is a major doubled die obverse. You would know it if it crossed your loupe. It is nearly as strong as Philadelphia

I have owned one and that is a bit of a stretch but it is way better than any of the modern squeezed methods DDO

I've owned two, one in MS66. I find them to be no stretch. To me, they are more interesting than the Philadelphia which exist in the tens of thousands. There are but a couple dozen of these babies and the doubling is strong on the motto

Yeah, did my reading... cleaning bad.. got it. lol. Looks like I'm switching up to more research less rummaging for the time being. Wish I had done it sooner, now all of my coins are grimy and greasy from my hands... gloves.. check. A bit too late, thankfully Its unlikely I had anything of real value in my 15 or 20 dollars in piggy bank pennies. Thanks for all the support everyone, I'll be stalking around on posts
Keep reading this forum, do some research... Good pictures by the way. This is a great hobby, stick with it.... Cheers, RickO
