Really weird Coinstar find today, at least 1 was silver.

I stopped at a Neighborhood Walmart today on the way to see how my 57 Chevy Nomad is coming along. I always check their Coinstar because it off to the side. I looked in and saw a pile of stuff. I raked it out and was surprised to find $5.61 and a Cayman 5 something coin. One of the dimes was silver. Yeah! The other 55 were all clad. Seemed problem free. Kinda weird that many dimes would have been rejected.
At least 1 was silver.

I never find anything at the Walmart CS.
Good for you. I've been been getting skunked at Coinstar lately.
How fun
Good score.
I'm struggling with bringing a Chevy Nomad to Walmart for anything other than gas.

That's a lot of coins. I usually get 5-6. I use the Coinstar app which id's more of them when I'm traveling. Peace Roy

Nice find...a couple weeks age I found a buck 35 in a CS at Wal-Mart.
When I first looked in the return slot it took me back a bit. It was full. I first wondered if someone had dumped a roll of silver dimes, but no. All but 1 was clad. Don't know why it would reject all those dimes. Weird.

Interestingly I bumped into my bank manager yesterday. I asked her if they had any customer rolled coin rolls on hand. She said they do not accept handrolled coins. That when someone brings them in, they are directed to dump them into the banks coin sorter-counter. I guess they send all the loose coins out for rolling. Too bad. Peace Roy

The bank/Credit Union rule about not accepting rolled coin originated from The Department of Redundancy Department.

Recently I was watching the Walmart coinstar and watched 3 people run coins through. They got done and walked away and I didn't see anything in the reject bin but thought I heard something going down. I went over and ran my finger up the reject track and hit a wad of paper someone had jammed up in there. I couldn't pull it out with my fingers, would probably require the use of needle nose pliers or long tweezers to get it out. I brought it to the customer service rep attention and asked her about it and she dismissed me saying she had nothing to do with that. What it means is that every time something was rejected it was held in the slot until the paper stuffer came by and pulled the plug, then would gather up all the rejects and replug the pipeline. That is probably a pretty profitable game since if there is nothing in the slot people are just going to walk away, never noticing they are short on what they put in the machine. I think it's criminal but Walmart couldn't care less.
Funny, my bank(chase) only accepts rolled coins anymore.

Nice find, congrats !!!
Today I was out shopping. On the way home wife called and said bring in hamburger buns. Closest store was Ingles so I swung in and bought a bag of 8 buns for $2.78. On the way out I stopped by the coinstar machine and noticed there were 2 coins in the reject bin. Plucked them out and put them in my pocket for later examination. Also bought a $2 scratch off lottery ticket. Brought the ticket home and won a free ticket or $2 so no loss there. The two coins were a 1945 Washington quarter and two lincoln cents that are stuck together. So, silver at about 10 times face makes the quarter worth about $2.50 melt so the buns cost me, hypothetically 28 cents so not a bad trip to the grocery store. It's all moot since I won't sell the quarter and I'll get the $2 for the ticket and put back in my pocket. This was my first ever silver out of the coinstar machine.
