Post your favorite coin in a non top 4 slab
Some people say buy the coin; some buy the holder; and some buy both!
So in this thread post:
1. A coin you like that isn’t in a top 4 tpg holder
2. A holder you like that isn’t one of the top 4.
3. Some of each

I’ve always liked the design of the Oregon Trail Commem and this is one of my favorites regardless of holder.

Compugrade had a cool premise even if they weren’t quite able to make grading by computer work. And the holder is quite nice too!
This is the only one I currently own that isn't a top 4 slab (and it will probably get crossed soon):
One of my 1875-CC 20c BF-1 R-6 (13 known), cherrypicked off of eBay a few years ago. It proudly retains its USCG holder from that illustrious period when the Coast Guard was still grading coins.

Here's one of my favorites.
Here's another - beautiful toning!
Who's #4?
PCI?
SEGS?
Top 4 is generally considered to be PCGS/NGC/Anacs/ICG
Here's a nice one I scored on eBay for the opening bid of $9.99. I'd personally say they might have actually graded this one accurately.
And another that I would agree with, which also is a tough VAM to find, with the collapsing die on the reverse. Also bought at a fraction of the price of a PCGS example.
Finally one more PCI to throw out there.
Wow - we're seen the only two accurately graded coins in PCI gold box slabs...

I've seen a few
Most were common proof Franklin though where the value was pretty low.
Nice !!!
It's tough to grade near perfect modern coins.
So what is the metal content of the no date, brass, copper? Peace Roy

I do not think I have any slabs outside of the top four....It is possible that maybe in one of my storage boxes there could be on, but I doubt it. I have seen some at shows when I lived in the PNW, but the coins therein did not attract me. Cheers, RickO
I have tons... let me see...
First off, the coin is actually BETTER than the basement TPG grade.
Second, it's an uncommon RPD - specifically PR RPD-002 1858/158
Where the repunched 1 south seen below the serif repunched first 8 south seen below the top and repunched 5 also south. It's classified as a Proof RPD, but also known on business strikes...

I like the ACG holder and the coins. I don't particularly care for the SEGS holder, but I like the coin a lot.
If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

There was a time I could have contributed MANY to this thread! Mostly Morgans in Gem and F/VF Buffalos
Here's a couple more. I bought them because the serial numbers were consecutive.
A ms 68 for $35.00 whoo hoo!
Gotta love NTC
These pics dont catch the nice toning on it.
