Heck With Ebay, Hit Garage Sales!

All kidding aside, it is always a crap shoot with raw coins on Ebay with not having coin in hand. Over the weekend I was at a garage sale in our area, and politely asked if they had any coins and they brought me an old prescription bottle with some coins in it. About 30 coins. Mostly worn silver coins worth about 60 bucks melt, but it also had this in it. I know it has some cuts and a slight rim ding but they took $50.00 for the lot. Nothing to slab, but a nice example for my type set. Well that's my two cents worth on garage sales. :-)

Very nice! I keep asking, but find very few coins at garage sales anymore... had much better success with that in the 70s (as a kid) and the 80s.
Very nice find and if you don't mind.......What kind of neighborhood did you go to?
wow!! I want to be in your neighborhood!! nice pick up!!

I think your "rim ding" might actually be a rim cud (die break).
Good deal for you.
Very nice, congratulations !!!
Nice find.
I have had no such luck at garage sales.
Clad Kennedy halves, hazy bicentennial proof sets..... that's about it.
Great find.... I rarely find coins at garage sales... except one, and he used to have a jewelry shop which also had coins.... and he prices the coins as if they were jewelry....He has about two garage sales a year and puts his coins out on a couple of tables....I asked him once if they were his personal collection... he said "Oh no, why do you ask?" I said "Because at those prices, you obviously want to keep them." - He was not happy with me....
Cheers, RickO
Usually by the time I get there and ask about coins, the answer (if they had any) has always been "We did but somebody came earlier and bought all of them."
Never know what you might find, congratulations. Reminder to self..... always ask if they have any coins for sale.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
I think that's a very nice example. I'd slab it at least for preservation.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

It was just a middle income ranch house, but the people selling did not seem to match the stuff being sold. There were older suits and furniture so I think it was their father's house and they were selling his stuff to clean out the house.
WOW!
