Sully accepts coin redesign task - August 1835

This is Thomas Sully's reply to a 3-page letter from Patterson regarding improved designs for coins. Patterson specifically mentions replacing the standard heraldic eagle.
"Philadelphia
August 14, 1835
R.M. Patterson, Esq.
Dear Sir:
I accept with pleasure your invitation to aid in the selection of a suitable design for the improvement of our coin, and will spare no pains to meet your views on the subject.
I would earnestly recommend that Mr. [Luigi] Persico the Sculptor be employed to create the model; as an example in Bias-relief would be better understood, and more suitable to direct the Diesinker than a drawing.
With the highest esteem and sincere regard,
Your obedient servant,
Thomas Sully"

Short and to the point. The way government correspondence should be.
This seems to tie in with the other letter you posted (of Sept., 1835).... Cheers, RickO
Yep....that was intentional.
