Is this PVC?

Thanks in advance...

Hmmm... I'm on my phone, so I don't have access to a good monitor at the moment, but there's nothing that's standing out to me as PVC damage. Are you talking about the spot at 9 o'clock above the first I in Louisiana?

I'm red green color deficient, but not severe - to my eye it's the 'greenish' discoloration on the busts, mainly Jefferson, and some in front of the O in Exposition. It was sent in raw. Reverse is clear. Got it on ebay 4 or 5 years ago and put in a mylar flip like you submit coins in.

I use a lighted magnifier which is good for detail but not for things like this. I should have imaged it before submitting (which I usually do because it's amazing how many little things I miss with just the magnifier or loupe).

If the consensus is that this is, then I will crack it and acetone bath. Otherwise I'll leave it.

I once had a Barber half once that had light yellow putty or play dough (seriously) scattered throughout and it wasn't until I imaged it and put a little contrast that it pop. Another one had blue stuff similar. Both in VF-XF, toned similar to this SCD.

Since the weekend is slow I'll leave this for a while and again, appreciate any opinions!

It looks like glue or tape residue.

I'm on my laptop now... yeah, I see what cmerlo1 is referring to. It looks like a yellow discoloration to me... perhaps tape residue.

I doubt PCGS would have slabbed it (unless it details graded) with glue or tape residue.

Glue. Soak it in acetone or Goo Gone. NO RUBBING!

I don't think it's PVC. It looks like tape residue, as others have said. Of course, photos can be deceptive. It could just be toning

    What did PCGS grade it?

Thanks for all of the input! With the naked eye it looks fine, but that may be my color deficiency. With the loupe it's there.

Hoo boy, I've been submitting since about 2003 (mostly midgrade Barbers and circulated Commems). No comment on our host's grading standards and consistency during my 15 year tenure. The untoned scratch was what I had a concern with, but it also is augmented by the photo :*

I meant to say "wouldn't" have graded it.

I'd just leave it as it is. In that grade I doubt it makes sense to pay any more slabbing fees.

    All glory is fleeting.

There does seem to be some sort of residue... it appears to be a yellow residue... could be tarnish, but looks almost like glue.... It does not look like PVC though. If it were raw, I would suggest an acetone soak...Let us know if you do something. Cheers, RickO
