ANA Show - Personal Thoughts

This year's ANA was a fine opportunity to meet many collectors and enthusiasts in Philadelphia. whether signing books at the Whitman booth, wandering about the bourse and meeting rooms, speaking to the NBS members, or casually meeting people. it was a very rewarding show. Others can write with better knowledge of collector/pubic traffic, availability and coin values.
However, I want to mention an unexpected event, too. This is the kind of thing that makes a writer smile inside and out, and is remembered long after awards are on the shelf. A collector received a copy of the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle book. It is a large, soft cover volume with the author and editors names in fairly small type on the cover. After my NBS presentation a collector approached and handed me a custom bound, hard cover copy of the book with my name in large letters on the cover. This was prepared as a personal act of generosity and appreciation that I will long remember. Its the type of act that makes an author realize that there really are people who appreciate all the work, and effort it takes to produce a good book.
To that collector - who I will not embarrass by identifying - a very sincere and appreciative "Thank You!"

Much deserved.

...your a True OG sir...Mad Respect for you and your writings and all the work you put in with real research...your a dying breed so it’s a good thing you wrote it all down...I picture your house as one bedroom where you sleep and the rest of the rooms are boxed to the ceiling in notes...like a Good Lawyer from the black n white days
Sweet, love that story !!!
Really cool Roger! Kudos to both of you.
Best, SH
It was great meeting you Roger. Thanks for the lookover of the coins. Was great to hear your thoughts on them.
That is fantastic Roger. What a marvelous, thoughtful gesture. I join you in thanking that thoughtful and generous collector who presented you with the book. A picture would be very nice here. Cheers, RickO

Super kind gesture.
The fact that you appreciate it so much speaks volumes.
