Reverse Proof Kennedy Half "Error" - Photos

Hi folks,
My apologies for the dog hair and the piece of lint in one photo. Couldn't find the compressed air.
In all cases, the "error" coin is on the left. It's not very dramatic and I'm not sure anyone will care about it, but there is a definite contrast difference. There are 3 angles (straight down, tilted 15 degrees to the right, tilted 15 degrees back) against two different backgrounds (black and white).
The straight down view looks most like the Numi News photo only (hopefully) less blurry. I wish I had a microscope plugged into my computer to look more at the surface. It appears to be the frosted surface which is
"less frosty"
I welcome any comments form those who know more about the minting process for these.

I don't know enough about the surfaces on these. If you look at the tilted ones, you can see the frostiness getting "frostier" at acute angles to the surface. The contrast difference is most pronounced in the straight on view. Is it possible that they laser etched the facets at the wrong angle?
I wish I had an interferometer.
??? There is no way to compare the color of the surfaces of two coins without them being shot side-by-side. The color and brightness is different between left and right in every pair.
That's because the camera is adjusting to the surface difference. Here's some side-by-sides but I can't do as many angles and keep it in focus.
I've seen a few of these with slightly different surfaces. We didn't think the ones we saw were special. Why not send both coins to PCGS (on just as an example) and see what they think. All anyone here can do is punch a keyboard with guesses.
well, the thing is that I don't think it's probably anything special either. LOL.
I can do way more than punch a keyboard.....
Don't quote me on that.
The “error” has been showing up in about 10% of our sets thus far. No glass needed of course. Wondercoin.
Agreed. It's hard to believe anyone would care about these, although I'm curious as to what causes it.
Yet another demonstration of the inconsistencies of the United States Mint.
Holy cow - can this get any more difficult to see? I still don't know what to look for. Variety or NOT? (thx Jmlazaf for your efforts)
Clearly there is a textured difference in the fields. Not dramatic, but definitely there. Wondercoin indicates about ten percent demonstrate this difference, so not a rarity. Perhaps Fred W. can comment on it... different dies, die wear... Cheers, RickO
He has a larger sampling, but I haven't seen anywhere near 10% on these. If it is actualy die preparation, however, I would expect that it would not be rare as with a mintage of 200,000 I expect they only used somewhere are around 10 or 15 dies. ????
