I could not resist when I saw this today. The craving was irresistible. A real monkey on my back. Went back and forth. Yes. No. Yes won.

The most expensive single coin I have ever bought. I now have the affordable Pan - Pacific trio. Oh the dreams of the Round and Octagon $50's. Maybe some day.

You did very well. There is a case that the trio came in. I believe the velvet was blue and each coin had a space. As I remember the outside had gold lettering for the Exposition. Someone here beside you probably owns the "short set" still in the case.

This coin is on my wish list. Not sure what you paid, doesn't' matter. It's the best of the five coin series.

1915 Coinage of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition

An Act For the coinage of certain gold and silver coins in commemoration of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, and for other purposes.

Obverse: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in two lines around border. Head of man with cap, to left; symbolizing a laborer through whose efforts the Panama Canal became a reality; below 1915.

Reverse: PANAMA PACIFIC EXPOSITION, SAN FRANCISCO in a continuous line around border; in center in horizontal lines, ONE DOLLAR encircled by two dolphins, in field; S mint mark.
