Wow, very nice
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Wowzers! They need to get it straight in the holder though for that price!
yeah, all my credit cards can't get close to that price.
Don't quote me on that.

My first thought was that's about a $50,000 coin.....looks like was light on it.
I've only ever seen one in person, but it seems like these took quite a beating on the corners of the rims.
Maybe some day.

Let me sell my car
Can't say I've read much on these....
So maybe I'm the only one that is surprised they appear to have a spot for "cents" on the obverse. Was the intent to mint them, then weigh them, and then punch the "xx D yy C" values??
This one is JUST "50 D"....so either it was by some miracle exact, or they just killed the idea and made them all $50??
The Philadelphia Mint considered these a nuisance in the 1850s. Also agree about the asking price being much too high. At any big show you'll be able to see several of these in dealers' cases.
Nice of CAC to cover up the label.
Wow, "sweet" !!!
Nice slug but debt baaaaad.
Should put on The Price is Right....get some publicity for the hobby.
I added it to my cart but had a slight problem at check out.

It's a nice slug but I have no idea what they are worth. All I do know is that I could buy a lot of other things that I would like much more for $187 Grand.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I wonder if there is a cash discount???

Everything is all right!
All of the known examples are $50, although the design was initially intended to be used for a variety of values. They pieces were thought of as ingots.
I once had a pair of patterns from these dies in copper - both were gemmy. Very cool coins.
edited to add - one of the copper pieces graded PCGS PR66 and the other graded PCGS PR67. Too bad that our hosts don't have photos...

I have pictures I took of them 12 years ago or so, with some digging, I might be able to find them.

Very nice slug but how is that an AU58? And it's beaned?
Looks like I may have to add it to my collection...
Dang. I would have bought it if it had been EU or RP.
Equals a night and a half with Stormy Daniels.
I really like gold coins, and these are special....I am surprised at the price... would have thought it was more like $120K....Cheers, RickO
But think of all of the airline miles you'll miss out on!
Excellent! I love the color on that!

Since it qualifies for the 'Everyman's' registry set, it bumps the price for a AU-58
