NEWP from my Local BM Coin Shop during my recovery....Bump with another NEWP

So, long story short, a couple months ago, my physician tells me I have a heart murmur, never heard before. Next thing I know, I'm scheduled for open heart surgery, I have the issue resolved, and I'm at home recovering now. A close friend of mine owns a local brick and mortar coin shop, and John knows what I like, and lo and behold, he texts me with some photos of the buy he just made near home. I make arrangements for one of my 6 daughters to give me a ride, since I can not drive for 4 weeks post-surgery. Fast forward to sitting at his shop, looking at what seems to me to be a treasure trove long undiscovered. Gold, frankincense and myrrh, or more accurately, gold, silver and more silver, all unseen and off the market for at least 50 or more years. I walked in with a healthy heart, beating rapidly to show off my thoracic surgeons' amazing skills, and walked out with the beauty seen below, along with the envelope it has been sitting in for the past 68 years. HOLY CRAP, what a day it was. He is sending in a number of gold coins that I have first crack at, too! I'm so blessed to have my broken heart mended, and now a little cake that I get to eat, too! Enjoy, and feel free to comment away. Bob

And it's my favorite. The off center bust. Good show.
Man you are lucky that your heart just didn't lock up and stop after seeing all those great coins.

Speaking as an ex-cardiac patient myself I can say that some of today's doctors and nurses are God's angels on this earth. I am so glad you are making a full recovery. The coins are great but, frankly, secondary. Take good care of yourself!
Kind regards,
George

Great that you are doing well after surgery... I hope the recovery is complete and swift. That is certainly a great coin.... only thing better would be to get it at 1950 price

Good luck to you..you are a very lucky person thanks to the skill of your surgical team.

I was there exactly 3 years ago ( Aug 12-2015) a quad BP. was under the knife 10 days after the issue was first discovered...felt perfectly healthy before without symptoms or history. no smoking either.
I can only recommend to everyone to have a chat with your DR. to check "outside the box" when your next annual physical comes up! oh... what annual physical?????
I am sure these super rare coins you acquired help speed up your recovery
will you get them graded?
3 years ago , when recovering at home, I did recognize that life was not all about business and coins. I decided then to downsize and specialize, concentrating on Queen Victoria -Canada coins. Not an easy task... but lots of fun hunting.
Oh, nearly forgot, your given exercises are not just "empty talk" by your surgeons.... they are absolutely necessary to make your recovery faster, successful and fun.
Sorry, this post is a little "off subject", but I think it is very suitable for many members.
I know, it will make some of you having some thoughts...
Thanks to all for your words of encouragement. It is a sobering experience, one moment happy go lucky, the next your MD tells you you get surgery. Fortunately, it was a repair of a valve, and my heart is almost good as new, as new as 57 years of usage allows. Medical care today allows me to be sitting here, typing about the great hobby we share, and looking forward to that next NEWP in the mail, or the thrill of the hunt and discovery of that coin that makes my heart rate accelerate. Heck, I even took time today to photograph and process a NEWP (thank you, board member Chumley!) I started a few days after surgery, enjoying a hobby I fell in love with as a kid! Bob
