USMint WWI Silver Dollar and Medal set available....
To those who missed buying USMint WWI Silver Dollar and Medal set and wanted to buy, they are available today. I'm one of those who didn't buy these set. Got an email from USMint this morning that said a limited quantity of the sets are available. Could be from returned or cancelled order. Just an FYI.

They've been available since July 30...
2018 World War I Centennial Commemorative (18C[A,B,C,D,M,N and P]) (Medals available)
Thx for the heads up. I didn't get in on these and probably won't, but others might appreciate the second chance.
As stated, this availability was noted earlier on the big thread on this topic. I purchased two additional sets, probably to use as gifts. Expecting the sets to arrive today or tomorrow.
Oh good, I can ignore them too.

I considered getting the Navy set, but looking at them in detail, I just was not really excited about the design... I will pass on these. Cheers, RickO
I expect them to be available next year at a lower price...just not at the Mint.
The way they're selling, they may be at the Mint.
(Yes, I know they'll come off-sale on Dec 31...)
The Mint really should consider going back to the old days when politically connected individuals could get them to issue coins/medals for their distribution. If the Department of Defense had contracted the Mint to make an Armed Forces medals and the Army distributed them itself for a Veterans charity or something, they would have sold out in no time. But the Mint turning itself into a coin eTailer has pushed out the 3rd party retailers who used to help with promotion and distribution.
In my ever humble opinion.
These medals were produced to commemorate WWI, so they are what they are. The Mint's mistake was not to sell sets, and to force the public to buy a proof commem with every medal. A 5 medal set with a proof and an uncirc commem probably would have sold out. I might have even bought one.
If you haven't read the original thread on the silver medals, the Mint is planning on producing non-dated Armed Forces medals (not related to any event) for all 5(?) branches in proof on ASE blanks. So your scenario may still play out, except they're supposed to be part of the permanent catalog and will never sell out...
I know. But it's part of a general complaint I have about the Mint freezing out 3rd parties. Back in the day, before e-Commerce, coin dealers did the majority of the leg work on set distribution. Bulk buyers got often sizeable discounts and many coin shops were selling the sets at essentially the same shipped price of the Mint. Those distributors did a lot of promotion. The Mint now wants to self-distribute as an e-Tailer, which is fine, but it actually reduces the amount of targeted promotion that gets done. (In my opinion.)
How do you know my Birthday is coming up?
