I also have a 1942 proof set in a similar Capital plastic holder. My grandmother bought it around 1969, from Woolworth's, and gave it to me as a birthday present.

The 1942 set I put together from 5 individual coin purchases. The half dollar has frosted devices on both sides but not enough to warrant a CAM designation.
The 1940 set I picked up at a local B&M. The half dollar is similar in appearance to the 1942. The dime is the best coin in the 1940 set. It has attactive toning and both side have deep, liquid mirrors.

Amazing! The 1940 Mercury is my favorite one.

Beautiful!
Looking at these reaffirms the fact that I'd like to have a Proof Walker one day.
