NJ summers.... Everyone goes down the shore and in addition the much loved Sussex County Farm/Horse Show & Fair is going on this weekend which is about 40 minutes from there.

The show was very strong. Dealers arrive at 7am public at 9. Usually most only statntil noon or 1pm. A pic at 1:30 when show was over was FAKE NEWS
Wasnt the show supposed to end at 6pm? How is this fake news? And why pack up and leave a one day show mid way? I was thinking of going at noon and glad I passed.

I can not speak for other dealers for me I get up at 5am to be there around 7am I spend 6.5 hours there and leave at 1:30 so I can get home around 3pm and spend some time with my family
Feel free to get up a tad earlier to attend before noon if you want full house of dealers.
If you know the show, most dealers are packing up at noon. I came at 8am and we weren’t permitted inside until 8:30. Left at 11 am and found some great coins for my collecting interest. If you come early there are many dealers and lots to look at.

I'm not sure why you think that the show was "supposed to end at 6pm" but I doubt it was advertised that way by the show promoters.

I will never attend a show in that state.
Sorry to be so abrupt, but sometimes people need to hear the truth.
I understand your position and don't have a problem with it. If I were a bullion dealer, I'd probably feel exactly the same way. But I'm not convinced that the people who "need to hear the truth" about NJ's gun laws are the members of this forum. I would suggest posting something on Facebook instead.

I guess I thought it was "supposed to end at 6pm" because it was online as such?

“9AM to 6 PM, expected, not verified” is a pretty good indication that the guy who runs the calendar didn’t ask the show promoters about the actual bourse hours.

I was there at 930, 85% of the tables were occupied by dealers and there was a healthy but not massive crowd for a hot Sunday in August. Bullion dealers were busy but the crowd thinned early and likely headed for the pool or beach as we tend to do in the Garden State. I heard several dealers comment that clearly the coin market is not dead given the large morning crowd.
Not much talk about what was selling or any good finds here.... Not that I would go to a show in NJ....Any comments on the bullion market there?? Cheers, RickO

You got two disagrees on this post? Presumably, because two guys think you are not working long enough hours? As in 10 HOURS on a Sunday? Collectors like that give collectors a bad name.

Well, where else do you suggest to look? The Garden State Coin and Stamp website hasn't been updated since 2016. Not a big deal, but why not make it easy for interested buyers to get this simple correct info? On a whim, I was thinking of making the trip with a friend that couldnt make it until noon. Like I said, I'm glad I passed.

The only reason I called the post "Fake News" is because from the comment with the pic (taken at 1:40pm) made the show look like it was completely empty and a waste of time to go to... from my perspective the show was busy and business was good... talking with 6-10 dealers about the show....all said they had a good show with good sales... I know the promoters mentioned that the bourse was almost filled because they were trying early am to find a spot for a new dealer to set up. Sorry to say most Sunday shows start early and tend to fall off in the early afternoon....

As a decades-long local attendee, I've known for longer than those here in the Forum what the surge is at Parsippany. And it's been mentioned here numerous times. If you get there at 11:30, the guy behind the table (one of a few friends there with tables) might have gotten up at 4:45, been lugging boxes since 6:30, and knows he's done 85% of his sales and 98% of his buys already. What Sunday coin show in the NorthEast isn't close to deserted by 2PM?

The show was VERY active from 8AM til 1PM....We pack up around 2 and head home to be with our families, some dealers a bit earlier. If you live on the east coast, are a collector or dealer....you know this is one of the best 1day regional shows.

Nope. I am not getting up earlier on a sunday because the dealer want to leave early.
You just wont get my money.
I came to buy. I left after 3 minutes because there was almost nothing for sale. I wont be back.
And anyone who calls an acurate photo "fake news" shows me what team you're on. I will buy elsewhere.

I doubt that show has ever seen 1900 visitors let alone 19000 as mentioned on the web page.
Whomever came up with that estimate must be counting with their socks off
The calendar guy also probably didn’t ask about the number of visitors. (19,000 sounds high.) These must be his default settings for all shows.

From this unedited post, all I get is at 1:30 it looked like this.
Not sure where all the rest of the assumptions are coming from.
