Received Washington / Adams medals today. I do not see the problem with my examples.
Have to admit I am very happy with the Mint's decision to use the 'Matte' finish.
These to me have an Uncirculated finish, this I like much more than a proof finish.
For me, these are a winner...

glad yours turned out okay. I really do like them...I'll try to get some close ups of what I see.
I will get one of these medals, but I do wish the Mint would get someone hired to really try to improve on modern engraving quality, as many medals just looked better in the past.
