A lot of good reads this summer. Three of the best.
Thunderstruck by Erik Larson. One of several of his that I've read, always fascinating.
Russian Roulette by Michael Isikoff and David Korn.
The Assault on Intelligence by Michael Hayden.
Proud recipient of the coveted "You Suck Award" (9/3/10).
1177 B.C The Year Civilization Collapsed by Eric H. Cline
The story about the end of the bronze age in the eastern Mediterranean. All the major cities save for those Egypt were reduced to ruins in the course of 25 years. Figuring out the reason has been a quest for archaeologists for decades.
Beyond the book, the resurgence of civilization around 600 B.C coincides with the invention on coinage. Alexander the Great used coinage to fuel his victories. The rest is history.
