(Originally designed by Iso of Italy the name Isetta translates to "little Iso." Iso SpA first sold it in 1953. BMW bought the license two years later and eventually manufactured and sold 160,000. Sales of the bubble microcar are credited with saving BMW from financial ruin and bankruptcy. As they say, "The Rest is History.")
