THE Mount Spurr VOLCANO ERUPTION WATCH CONTINUES

Friday brought clear skies allowing for spectacular views of expected soon to erupt Mount Spurr Volcano located just 80 miles west of Anchorage. In the Friday videos one can see evidence of steam coming from the Volcano's summit crater. My Friday taken videos are the first four in the below linked Playlist.

Steam arising out of the Volcano's Summit Crater was verified by an Alaska Volcano Observatory flyover on Friday looking directly down into the crater.

In addition the Alert level has now been raised by the Alaska Volcano Observatory as the chance of a violent eruption that would spew ash on Anchorage is now considered even more likely.

Now three days later Mount Spurr is currently obscured by ash colored clouds as seen in the second set of four videos included in this Playlist.

This scene is from the 1966 Czechoslovakian film "Closely Watched Trains" which is set in 1944-1945 during the German occupation of the country.

The car is called a "draisine" which is a light auxiliary rail vehicle driven by service personnel.

That hauntingly reminds me of the fact that these young boys I filmed at the Kremlin some years ago are now of that same age and facing similar challenges:

A decade ago these young Russian boys gathered together at the Kremlin in Moscow. Today their lives are threatened by the reality of war.

Yesterday's Massive Plume of Steam from Volcano Mt Spurr's Summit Crater Captured in Video and Photos

Screenshot from Last Night's News Broadcast:

    Screenshot from my video:

In the first few seconds of this below linked video a plume of steam is seen rising from the Summit Crater of Alaska Volcano Mt Spurr. This event is the most visible evidence to date of the volcano''s activity consistent with the Alaska Volcano Observatory's Alert that an eruption is most likely expected.

Following the impressive plume of steam the camera pans eastward toward majestic Mt Susitna and on to the Port of Anchorage located some 80 miles distant from Mt Spurr.

Link to the Video depicting the massive plume of Steam just as a Jet Flies Over the Volcano in the opening frames:

COMPARING JAPAN'S ACTIVE STRATOVOLCANOS SAKURAJIMA AND MT FUJI TO STRATOVOLCANO MT SPURR

Sakurajima, Japan’s Most Active Volcano, Looms Over Kagoshima Port Send Off

As the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship departs from Kagoshima Port the citizens join together to offer a grateful send off complete with a band performance.

Looming above them is Japan’s most active volcano, Sakurajima that continues to steam and intermittently spew light ash after its last major 2022 eruption that sent cinders into the air.

Link to Video of Sakurajima Volcano as it looms over Kagoshima Port Send Off:

Mount Fuji, which last erupted in 1707/8, is also an active stratovolcano.

As the early morning sunrise lights the horizon, a sunlit Mount Fuji capped by snow comes into view.
