Alaska’s Northern Lights have returned to once again illuminate the fall foliage below as viewed from my home.

It was just days ago that this same fall foliage was the backdrop for an epic battle between two Bull Moose that I captured on video and which was then broadcast on television.

In the video below taken early this morning the Northern Lights are seen for the second time since the Moose Battle.

And here are some still photos of the Northern Lights as taken today:

After posting the above, I was asked about the pattern of shadows seen on the house in the above Northern Lights photo. It turns out they were created by the light from a full moon that was behind me as the moonlight filtered through the branches of the trees also behind me. I agree that the consequent lunar effect compliments the aurora above.

Cool gift of Purple Sweet Potato Tarts from a YouTuber friend who just returned from filming an episode with the U.S. Marines in Okinawa.

Purple Sweet Potatoes are a staple in the diet of Okinawans and are claimed to be one of the reasons for the long lives lived by people from Okinawa.

    The now posted episode:

    Halloween Comes Early to Alaska

Local merchants line up with treats for the Halloween costumed youth of Anchorage Alaska as the city’s 4th Avenue becomes Trick or Treat Street.

Fun for all ages is added as a Climbing Wall Tree in the middle of the street becomes the mecca for the adventurous and a Hippo Bouncy House taking over the roadway attracts the excited.

The skyward fully extended ladder of Anchorage Fire Department Engine No. 1 as a piece of firefighting equipment retracts and transforms into a road ready fire truck.

In the background see downtown Anchorage Alaska as viewed from the city’s iconic 4th Avenue.
