Literally. Inside the Mary Baker Eddy library, lies a one-of-a-kind attraction known as the Mapparium. This massive stained-glass globe stands three stories high. It captures the world’s geographical borders as they appeared in 1935 and you can walk right through it!

For this week's feature, a photo visit to Hokkaido's southern most city of Hakodate is offered. One of the longest undersea railroad tunnels connects the two Japanese islands with Hakodate being Hokkaido's welcoming city. It also played an important historical role as the site in 1869 of the last battle between the feudal Tokugawa Shogunate forces and the newly established Imperial forces that coincided with the opening of Japan that began with Admiral Perry's Black Ships in 1853 sailing into what is now known as Tokyo Bay. The Battle of Hakodate is better known in Japan as the Battle of Goryokaku and brought to an end the Boshin War, Japan's Civil War.
Today, as pictured below, a remnant of that war still stands in the form of a star shaped fortress known as Fort Goryokaku.
Atop the Hakodate Tower which overlooks the star shaped fort is a cafe where one can enjoy famous Hokkaido soft ice cream, one of many dairy products for which Hokkaido with its plethora of dairy cattle is well known.
The flavor of orange colored soft cream is Yubari Melon. Hokkaido's Yubari location grows the most tasty and most expensive melons in the world. At auction premium specimens command tens of thousands of dollars each.

7. We pay homage to hoarding.
.
One of the most intriguing and arresting collections of art and artifacts in the world belonged to Isabella Stewart Gardner. The wealthy Bostonian was an avid traveler who picked up art from all over the world. Both the scale of her collection and its presentation inside Gardner’s "inside out" Venetian Palazzo are incredible.

8. We have the most charming historic street in the country.
.
This might not be an official title, but Acorn Street in Beacon Hill has cornered the market on historic and quaint. This one block transports you back in time to 19th century Boston – just watch your ankles on the cobblestones.

9. We have a tower that tells us the weather forecast.
.
The weather beacon atop the old John Hancock Tower displays different colored lights that provide locals with useful info. For instance, if the lights are a steady blue then the skies are clear, while steady red means rain.

Have you ever seen a Fog Waterfall? This happens over East Mountain in Bluefield, WV quite every now and then. I have seen it several times and it is amazing. First photo is just that, a photo of the occurrence. Then, there is an address that allows you to view the video of it actually occurring from a facebook page.

10. We love our green monster.

The Green Monster is so much more than a wall; it’s also a Boston icon. The mascot for the Sox is Wally the Green Monster.
