For this Friday's photo feature, here are some photos I took of the first franchised McDonalds as it stands today in Des Plaines, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
Somehow I sense these historic Golden Arches will survive the current threats to other historical monuments, but then again I never had expected Mount Rushmore to be threatened either so enjoy this piece of Monument to Capitalism history while you still can.

The original Bob's Big Boy (initially called Bob's Pantry) was the 10-stool hamburger stand in Glendale, California, which founder Bob Wian purchased in 1936 and expanded into a drive-in restaurant.

It is still Friday, so to end the day here are several photos I took last year on Japan's Miyajima Island near Hiroshima. They feature the O-Torii that appears to be floating in the ocean waters when the tide is in.

This is the third oldest McDonald’s built in 1953 in Downey Ca. (LA suburb) by the McDonald brothers. It is still in operation today. Ray Kroc partnered with the McDonald brothers in 1955 and the franchise took off.
Included are the tracks for the Mag-Lev Train (Magnetic Levitation), the most successful one in the world connecting downtown Shanghai with the airport at airplane speeds.
(Eight minutes to travel 19 miles at speeds up to 268 miles per hour.)
