Thick, old patina - warning dark side

Came across this yesterday in my holdings from an estate I purchased ~15 years ago that I had forgotten about.
I don’t know how long it was in that envelope prior to my acquisition but I suspect quite awhile. The toning actually looks 'thick' in hand. Don't ya wish they could all look like that? Only if you're toning fan, I guess....
A little research showed the 'MB' counterstamp appears on other British coins from this same time period, but that was all I could find on it.

It looks a bit 'grungy'... but that is to be expected after such long storage in that manner...No idea about the counterstamp... Cheers, RickO
I love it! I'm weird though.
Another shot of the obverse:
Well, weirdo, you have company.
