I would think that sales would slow down with silver prices continuing to drop.....below $15 per ounce now. It would be nice if the mint would adjust pricing like they do when all other metals go up/down (gold/platinum/palladium). Not sure why they don't do the same for silver.

Anyone who bought a $50 proof silver eagle because it had $15 in silver in it should not be allowed to handle the house finances.

LOL. All I meant was that you buy the proof silver eagle because you want a proof silver eagle, NOT because you want one ounce of silver.
Buy away - someone has to keep this market afloat!

They DO do it for silver, but only BULLION SILVER EAGLES.
Do you really think moving the price of proof eagles by $1 because silver moved $1 would encourage anyone else to buy them? The mint formula for precious metals including bullion silver eagles is spot price + premium. The only adjustment they make is to the spot price, the premiums stays the same. Collector coins are not priced as bullion. The price of PROOF eagles is almost all premium.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't every buy collector coins like proofs from the Mint as a way to acquire bullion. The premiums on collector coins makes them very pricey as a means to acquire precious metals.
Congratulations unavailable and put these out with no limits at all. FDI will go for sure but with not limits? I am thinking about writing an open letter to the Mint.
My comment was more directed at a collector waiting a week or two to purchase the gold eagles and spouse coins and saving substantial money due to ebs and flows of metal prices for those that still wanted the coin in the past (and not trying to accumulate gold as it is much cheaper to buy bars/bullions, etc.). If we applied the same mark-up on the gold proof eagles that they apply to these silver eagles, the collector gold eagles would be around $3,400 each from the mint. I don't know what it costs the mint to make/package these silver eagle proofs, but a coin in the $32-$35 price range is where they should be, if not lower. You can buy several prior date silver eagles on Ebay for under $40 that now have a known final mintage.
Actually US eagle silver bullion demand is picking up due to low prices.
